History

The full name of the community is the First Congregation of the Baptist Christian Church in Kraków. Kraków's Baptists form one of the oldest communities of this denomination in Lesser Poland. The congregation's beginnings date back to 1932 and are intertwined with the history of the congregations in Krynica-Zdrój and Tarnów. It was then that the first members of the emerging group were baptised and the congregation formally came into being.

From 1936 to 1966 the faithful gathered for services at 10 Dajwór Street. Services then moved to Łobzów, to the building on Stanisława Wyspiańskiego Street. In 1990 the congregation turned to community work and set up the "Uśmiech" (Smile) club for children. It also organises concerts with an evangelistic message and works with Baptist congregations both in Poland and abroad. At the end of 2010 one of its branches moved from Nowa Huta (the Willowe estate) to Wieliczka.
