History

The Church of Jesus Christ in Kraków is a charismatic Protestant community, a congregation of the Church of God in Poland. It grew out of the Kraków "Miriam" community, founded in 1985 within the Renewal in the Holy Spirit movement of the Roman Catholic Church. In 1991 some members of its student group left the Roman Catholic Church and joined the Pentecostal movement. At first the community met on Krakusa Street, then at the premises of the First Baptist Church on Wyspiańskiego Street, and after that it changed its meeting place many times. The independent Church of Jesus Christ in Kraków was registered on 12 January 1996, and from the end of that year it met in a tenement house at 8 Szczepański Square. In 2004 the community became part of the international Church of God, which is why in 2009 the name was changed to the Church of God in Poland. Since January 2018 it has been based at 12 Golikówka Street.
