Church (Roman Catholic), Mistrzejowice district.

History

The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help stands on the Bohaterów Września estate in Mistrzejowice. Its history began on 5 November 1989, when Cardinal Franciszek Macharski blessed the site for the future building. The decree establishing the parish was issued on 13 August 1990. The parish covers the Piastów, Bohaterów Września and Mistrzejowice Nowe estates.

Construction lasted from 1991 to 1993, and the foundation stone was laid on 24 November 1991. The postmodern design is by Marcin Janowski and Zbigniew Janowski. The church was consecrated on 1 May 1996 by Bishop Stanisław Smoleński.

The interior is a spacious hall. The facade is decorated with colourful mosaics, and the windows are filled with stained glass showing Polish saints and blesseds. The church has a historic late Baroque altar that comes from St Adalbert's Church on Kraków's Main Market Square. It holds a contemporary painting of the church's patron, Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
