Churches of Kraków
Church (Roman Catholic), Łagiewniki-Borek Fałęcki district. Architect: Witold Cęckiewicz. Run by: Zakon Saletynów.
History
The Church of Our Lady of La Salette serves the residents of the Cegielniana estate in Łagiewniki. In August 1980 Cardinal Franciszek Macharski established a public chapel here dedicated to Our Lady of La Salette and ordered pastoral care and religious instruction to be provided for the faithful of the estate. He created the parish by decree on 1 March 1983 and entrusted it to the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette. Father Roman Sikora is listed as parish priest from 1982, and after him the parish was led by other La Salette priests.
In 1993 Cardinal Macharski set a foundation stone into the wall of the church. It comes from the site of the apparition of Our Lady at La Salette and was blessed by Pope John Paul II. The newly built church was consecrated on 1 June 2013 by Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz.
The parish belongs to the Kraków-Podgórze deanery of the Archdiocese of Kraków. It covers the streets of the Cegielniana estate, including Cegielniana, Młynowa, Ciesielska, Kołobrzeska, Słupska and Zielonogórska, as well as part of Zakopiańska.
