Church (Roman Catholic), Dębniki district. Run by: Salezjanie.
History
The Church of Our Lady Help of Christians at 39 Tyniecka Street is a rectoral church of the Salesians in Kraków's District VIII Dębniki. The order became linked with this place in 1918, when it bought a plot of land from Count Zdzisław Tarnowski of Dzików. A religious house was built on it, canonically established in 1930, and in time also the Salesian Higher Theological Seminary.
Construction of the church began in 1936 and was not completed until 1946. The design was prepared by the engineer Marian Gąsowski. The church was consecrated in 1947 by Cardinal Adam Sapieha.
The building is modernist, single-naved, built on a rectangular plan with a semicircular chancel. The façade has no tower; instead it is adorned with a portico reached by a tall flight of steps. Above the high altar stands a figure of Our Lady with the Child by Mieczysław Stobierski, who also made the reliefs of the Stations of the Cross.
