History
The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands in Rżąka, in the Bieżanów-Prokocim district, at 6 Wyszyńskiego Street. Pastoral care here is provided by diocesan priests.
It all began on 31 May 2000, when Cardinal Franciszek Macharski blessed the site of the future church. The first excavations for the foundations started in September of that year. The building, in a postmodern style, was designed by the architect Krzysztof Filuś. Two years later, also on 31 May, Cardinal Macharski laid the foundation stone. In August 2002, during his eighth pilgrimage to Poland, John Paul II blessed three bells for this church on Kraków's Błonia meadows: Magnificat, John Paul II and St Joseph. They rang for the first time on 20 October 2002.
The main body of the building was completed by 2006. In 2007 and 2008 work continued on insulation, the roof and the interior. The church was solemnly established on 31 May 2010 by Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz.
