Kościół pw. Niepokalanego Serca Najświętszej Maryi Panny
Churches of Kraków
Church (Roman Catholic), Podgórze district.
History
The Church of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands in Rybitwy, in the Podgórze district, at Półłanki Street 100. It belongs to a parish established in 1970. Construction work began in 1983 and was completed in 1985. The church was consecrated on 15 October 1995 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski.
The postmodern design is by the architect Jerzy Petelenz. The building stands out among Kraków's churches - there is no direct counterpart to it in the city's religious architecture. Gabled roofs, each at a different height, divide the building into three parts. Semicircular arcades recur both outside and inside. The tower, which serves as the bell tower, also has an unusual shape.

Construction was finished in 1985, but the solemn consecration took place only ten years later, in 1995.
