Churches of Kraków
Church (Roman Catholic), Nowa Huta district. Date according to OpenStreetMap: 1806. A listed monument (heritage register).
History
The church stands in Pleszów, which is now part of the Nowa Huta district. The parish here is first mentioned in 1326, when it was listed as the seat of a deanery. According to legend, the first church on this site was consecrated by St Stanislaus.
The present Classicist church was designed in 1806 by Father Sebastian Sierakowski. It was funded by the owners of Pleszów at the time, the Czartoryski princes, and the interior was furnished by the next owner, Wincenty Kirchmayer. A tower was incorporated into the body of the building; in 1929 it was raised to 20 metres and given a new roof. Figures of Saints Peter and Paul stand in niches in the façade.
Inside, look out for the late Renaissance triptych from around 1600, moved here from the old wooden church. Its central panel shows St Anne with the Virgin and Child. Another of the side altars, in late Baroque style, dates from the mid-18th century and came here from the Cistercian church in Mogiła. The high altar holds a painting of St Vincent, made around 1810. On the walls are Classicist tombstones of the village's former owners, Jan Kirchmayer (who died in 1831) and Mateusz Kirchmayer (who died in 1834).

The Baroque high altar of Dębnik marble and the floor of this church came from the furnishings of Kraków's All Saints' Church. They were bought at auction after that church was demolished.
