Churches of Kraków

Church, Nowa Huta district.

History

Kraków has three congregations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church: the Nowa Huta congregation, the congregation on Lubelska Street and the international congregation. The Nowa Huta community has existed since 1991, and its services are held in the church at Teatralne estate 24.

The first Adventist missionary, Luiza Roulin, came to Kraków in 1910. An independent congregation was established in the city in 1920 and at that time had nine baptised members. From 1913 the first meetings of the small group of believers were held in private flats. In 1946 the Church bought a tenement house at Lubelska Street 25, where a church was set up and where Kraków's Adventists have gathered ever since. In the 1990s a separate congregation was formed in Nowa Huta. When the tenement house on Lubelska Street was renovated in 2020, the community there met in the premises of the Nowa Huta congregation for the duration of the work. Today there are more than two hundred Adventists in Kraków.

Adventists baptise adults by immersion and regard Saturday as the holy day, which is why services are held here on Saturdays.
