Kaplica pw. Świętej Teresy z Lisieux w Borku Fałęckim

Wayside Shrines

Chapel, Łagiewniki-Borek Fałęcki district. A chapel is a small place of worship, often beside a cemetery, hospital or a larger church.

History

The Chapel of St Thérèse of the Child Jesus stands in the lower part of the parish of Our Lady of Victory in Borek Fałęcki. The parish church is up on Górka Borkowska, and older parishioners found it hard to get there, so it was decided to build a place of prayer closer to them. Construction took two years. Cardinal Franciszek Macharski blessed the new chapel in 2001, less than two months after pastoral work began at the Church of St Hedwig the Queen, in the new parish on the Kliny estate. Its patron is St Thérèse of the Child Jesus, virgin and Doctor of the Church. The parish notes that the large number of worshippers, especially older ones, confirms that the investment was worthwhile.

Did you know?

The shell of the parish church on Górka Borkowska was completed in two years, mainly thanks to donations from workers at the Solvay soda factory in Borek. In 1939 the work was interrupted by the war, and the interior was not finished until 1947.
