History

Grzegórzki Park covers more than 5 ha around Skrzatów Street in the Grzegórzki district. It is a former military area, bordered on one side by a flood embankment, beyond which run the Vistula Boulevards. For years it was left to natural succession and access was restricted, so a natural oasis developed here, with many old trees, some of them with hollows, and dense undergrowth. As part of a Participatory Budget project, rubble and rubbish were cleared away, the historic buildings were secured, and in 2023 two former military buildings were demolished. The plan for the park is built around its mature trees.

Did you know?

The ground layer includes plants that are rare in urban areas, and the nearby Vistula is good for wildlife.
