Explorer of Kraków's Parks · no. 8

Park type: standard. In this park you can collect a stamp in the "Explorer of Kraków's Parks" campaign run by Kraków's Municipal Greenery Authority (ZZM).

History

Railway Park lies between Kopernika Street and Grzegórzecka Street, on the site of a former railway embankment which, after the tracks were removed, served mainly as an informal car park. The turning point was a 2021 agreement between the City of Kraków and PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, which allowed the land beneath the viaducts to be leased. The result was Kraków's first park beneath railway infrastructure. Visitors can enjoy a rain garden and a sensory garden, a dog run with an agility course and a playground. More than 70 trees and thousands of shrubs have been planted, and the project cost over 10.6 million złoty.

Did you know?

The concrete pillars of the viaducts are decorated with railway-themed murals and boards covering more than 700 m2 in total. They tell younger visitors the history of the railways in Kraków and in Poland.
