History

Kurczaba Park in Bieżanów-Prokocim, on Kurczaba Street, covers 1.78 ha and was created on the initiative of local residents through the Civic Budget. In the 1960s and 1970s the site was probably used as a pit, as the concrete slabs, rubble and bricks still remind us. For years it was neglected. Today it is divided into two parts: a southern one, with a fenced dog run, and a larger northern one, in a natural hollow surrounded by steep banks. The main paths, including steel-grating walkways in the form of raised terraces, are also accessible to people with disabilities.

Did you know?

In part of the park, dead trees have been deliberately left in place, creating a biocenotic zone meant to show the importance of natural processes in the city. Information boards tell the story of the local wildlife.
