History

Przylasek Rusiecki is a former village in the eastern part of Nowa Huta. It grew up on cleared woodland belonging to Ruszcza, and the first records of it, under the name Las Rusiecki, date from 1782. It became part of Kraków in 1973. There are a dozen or so lakes in the area, formed when old gravel pits flooded. A beach with a bathing area, modernised in 2021, was set up by one of them, and the other lakes are used by anglers.

Did you know?

Over the centuries Przylasek belonged in turn to the Branicki, Badeni and Popiel families.
