History

Fort Mistrzejowice, in documents auxiliary armoured fort 48a, was built at the end of the 19th century, during the modernisation of the Kraków Fortress. It was designed by Emil Gołogórski. Together with the Batowice and Dłubnia forts, which lay on the same line, it guarded the Warsaw road, and its task was also to provide flanking defence of the Dłubnia valley. After the First World War it served as a storehouse. The fort had been vandalised; a renovation that included restoring the façade began in 2021 and was completed in 2024. Today it is surrounded by well-kept grounds with paths, benches and a playground.

Black locust, blackthorn and hawthorn grow on the fort grounds, and horse chestnuts line the access road.
