History
The park with its reservoir, one of Nowa Huta's recreational sites, opened in 1957. It was designed by A. Ścigalski and created within a two-kilometre green buffer zone separating the steelworks from the housing estates. The lake covers more than 7 ha and is fed by the Dłubnia river.
In the 1950s and 1960s the reservoir was used for picnics, sports events and concerts, and canoes and pedalos took to the water. Later the area was neglected for a long time. As part of a regeneration that began in 2005, the bottom was dredged, the banks were reinforced and the paths were renewed, and in 2020 a graduation tower, a beach and a playground were opened.
