Explorer of Kraków's Parks · no. 60

Park type: standard. In this park you can collect a stamp in the "Explorer of Kraków's Parks" campaign run by Kraków's Municipal Greenery Authority (ZZM).

History

The Mistrzejowice Planty, covering 10.51 ha, were laid out in the early 1970s as green space for the new Mistrzejowice estates, which were to extend Nowa Huta. The competition for the design of the whole complex was decided in 1963, and the team was led by Professor Witold Cęckiewicz. The estates themselves - Tysiąclecia, Złotego Wieku, Bohaterów Września and Piastów - were built in 1968-1982. Together with the Bieńczyce Planty, the park was to form a green corridor leading from Nowa Huta through the new estates to the park around Fort Batowice.

The park has, among other things, playgrounds, a trial park, two multi-purpose pitches, an open-air stage and a skatepark, which was built from May to November 2011 for about 740 thousand zloty. The skatepark was symbolically opened on 19 May 2012.
