History

The Wilga River Park is part of Kraków's system of river parks. The Wilga is a right-bank tributary of the Vistula that flows into it at Wołyński Boulevard; its source lies in the village of Raciborsko in the Wieliczka Foothills. The City Council decided to create the river park as early as 2009; it was to include Białe Morza, Cyrkówka, Ludwinów and the Siarczany stream, among other areas. Work began in 2020. The first stage covered Kopty Wood, from Jana Brożka Street to Rzemieślnicza Street. A cycle path was built there as part of the #WisłaŁączy project, along with footpaths of wood, stone and Corten steel laid along old informal trails. In places of high natural value the paths were raised above the ground to protect the tree roots.

Did you know?

A small car park was built in the park using so-called green parking technology, which keeps the surface biologically active.
