Singer Dragon

Dragon Trail

A dragon with a microphone stands in Kora's Square, at the corner of Fałata and Prusa Streets.

History

The Singer Dragon, also called the Musician Dragon in the city's list, stands on Kora Square on Fałata Street, holding a microphone in its paw. The square is named after Olga Sipowicz, known as Kora, regarded as an icon of Polish rock and one of the most charismatic and outstanding figures in Polish popular music. She sang with the band Maanam, with whom she recorded eleven studio albums, and she also wrote most of their song lyrics. For many years she was closely connected with Kraków, and before moving to Warsaw she lived near this square. Nearby are the Błonia meadow, Jordan Park and the promenade along the Rudawa river.

Did you know?

According to the city's description, the dragon's favourite songs are Kora's, including "Krakowski spleen" ("Kraków Spleen") and "Kraków - ocean wolnego czasu" ("Kraków - an ocean of free time"). It is shy: when someone hears it, it freezes stock-still.
