The student dragon stands on the AGH campus, on the lawn by the Studio club.
History
The Student Dragon stands in front of the entrance to Klub Studio in the AGH Student Campus, on Budryka Street. The sculpture is the work of James Sierżęga, a graduate of the Kraków Academy of Fine Arts. The dragon wears a traditional student cap and a jacket and carries a book under its arm. It looks as if it is hurrying to a lecture, mindful of the "academic quarter" - the customary fifteen minutes' grace before a lecture starts. The campus was founded in 1964, covers nearly 16 hectares, and more than seven thousand students live in its twenty halls of residence. Klub Studio has operated under its present name since 2004, and as early as the 1970s there was a student canteen on this spot.
