Dragon with a Kite
Dragon Trail
A dragon with a kite waits in Jordan Park, at the main entrance from the Błonia meadow.
History
The Dragon with a Kite spends its time playing in Dr Henryk Jordan Park. The park was founded and partly funded by Dr Henryk Jordan (1842-1907), a Kraków doctor, social activist and city councillor. Since 1889, Kraków's children and young people have been able to play games and have fun in the fresh air here. The park has busts of eminent historical figures, which during the partitions were meant to foster patriotism among young people, as well as a sculpture of Wojtek the bear, who served in General Władysław Anders' army. The park became a model for similar parks in Warsaw, Lviv, Nowy Sącz, Sanok and Jarosław.
Did you know?
It was in Jordan Park that young people in Kraków first came across a leather ball that had to be kicked into the opponents' goal.
