Dzięcioł duży
Kraków Murals
Mural in the Bieżanów-Prokocim district showing a bird species (Polish name: Dzięcioł duży). It is one of about a dozen bird murals in this area. A mural is a large painting made directly on the wall of a building.
History
The Great Spotted Woodpecker appeared on the gable wall of the block at Nowosądecka Street 15 in the first days of July 2019. It is another painting in the bird series on the estate of the Na Kozłówce Housing Cooperative, created by the artist Wojciech Rokosz. The murals are painted on gable walls that are being renovated and given a thicker layer of insulation. The cooperative wrote that the birds are becoming the estate's trademark and a source of pride for residents, and joked that the woodpecker does not seem to be planning to fly away.
