Jemiołuszka zwyczajna

Kraków Murals

Mural in the Bieżanów-Prokocim district showing a bird species (Polish name: Jemiołuszka zwyczajna). It is one of about a dozen bird murals in this area. A mural is a large painting made directly on the wall of a building.

History

The mural of a Bohemian waxwing decorates the renovated gable wall of the building at 21 Nowosądecka Street. It is part of the bird series on the "Na Kozłówce" Housing Cooperative estate, painted by the artist Wojciech Rokosz. The pictures in this series are painted when gable walls in need of renovation are repaired, and they show wild birds living on the estate. On the neighbouring walls the waxwing is joined by a blue tit at 23 Nowosądecka Street and a Eurasian nuthatch at number 25.

Did you know?

The whole bird mural series on this estate became well known: Onet wrote about it, and the Dzień Dobry TVN programme showed it on television.
