History
The fountain was created in 1996, when St Mary Magdalene Square was rebuilt, to a design by Józef Białasik and Michał Szymański. It consists of a shallow, round basin with a polished, streamlined stone block standing in the middle. The basin is meant to reflect in its water the facade of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, which stands on Grodzka Street. The square, which measures 997 m², takes its name from St Mary Magdalene's Church, demolished in 1811; its outline is marked on the paving.
