Prof. Zin's Fountain
Kraków Fountains
Fountain, Bieżanów-Prokocim district. It was designed by Wiktor Zin, an architect and professor at the Kraków University of Technology. It dates from the 1960s and first stood on the Main Square, where it was nicknamed the "couch" (kanapa). After being dismantled it was put away in storage, and it returned to public space after the park's renovation, completed in September 2020.
History
The fountain was designed by Wiktor Zin, an architect and professor at the Kraków University of Technology. People in Kraków called it the "sofa", and it stood on the Main Market Square from 1964 to 2005. When the surface of the Market Square was thoroughly rebuilt and archaeological work was carried out there, the fountain was dismantled and then kept in storage. After careful renovation and reconstruction, in 2020 it was set up in Jerzmanowski Park in Prokocim. The park reopened after revitalisation on 26 September 2020, and together with a second, round fountain, it is one of the main features of the park's new design.
