Fountain in front of the Jerzmanowski Palace

Kraków Fountains

Fountain, Bieżanów-Prokocim district. The round fountain dates back to the time of the Jerzmanowski family. In 1895 Erazm Jerzmanowski bought the Prokocim estate and rebuilt the palace and the park. According to accounts of the palace's history, a courtyard with a water jet fed by a water tower was laid out in front of it at that time. The park reopened after renovation on 26 September 2020 and now has two fountains - you will find the other one nearby.

History

This round fountain stands next to the Jerzmanowski Palace in Prokocim. It dates from the end of the 19th century, when the palace was remodelled to a design by Karol Knaus. During renovation work in 2014 it was dug out and carefully restored. The park reopened after its revitalisation on 26 September 2020. The fountain is one of two in the park; the other is Professor Zin's fountain, moved here from the Main Market Square. Nearby stands a statue of Erazm Jerzmanowski, who bought the Prokocim estate in 1895.

Did you know?

In Erazm Jerzmanowski's time the park was surrounded by an openwork brick wall, and a stream was led through it from the Drwinka river to feed three fish ponds. During the park's redevelopment in 1966-1970 the streams and ponds were filled in, and a stadium was built where the largest pond had been.
