Kowalik zwyczajny
Kraków Murals
Mural in the Bieżanów-Prokocim district showing a bird species (Polish name: Kowalik zwyczajny). It is one of about a dozen bird murals in this area. A mural is a large painting made directly on the wall of a building.
History
A Eurasian nuthatch looks out from the gable wall of the building at 25 Nowosądecka Street. It belongs to the series of bird murals on the estate of the Na Kozłówce Housing Cooperative, painted by the artist Wojciech Rokosz. The cooperative jokingly described it as a bird that keeps a close eye on its neighbours: the waxwing at 21 Nowosądecka Street and the blue tit at number 23. The paintings in this series are created when the gable walls of the blocks are renovated.
