Miraculum
Kraków Murals
Mural, Stare Miasto district. A mural is a large painting made directly on the wall of a building.
History
On a wall on Worcella Street an advertising mural for the Miraculum factory has survived. The City Art Commissioner named it as an example of murals from the communist era, of which few remain in Kraków, as most were painted over when façades were renovated. The factory was founded in 1924 and was located in Podgórze, in Zabłocie, at 21-23 Zabłocie Street. After the war the plant was nationalised. In 1971 production of Pani Walewska perfume began here, and in 1977 of the Brutal range of men's cosmetics. Today the site of the former factory is occupied by residential buildings put up by a developer.
