Explorer of Kraków's Parks · no. 54
Park type: standard. In this park you can collect a stamp in the "Explorer of Kraków's Parks" campaign run by Kraków's Municipal Greenery Authority (ZZM).
History
Czyżyny Park was created where, in the mid-20th century, the taxiway of the Rakowice-Czyżyny airfield ran and where an MPK bus depot later stood. The idea was submitted to the Participatory Budget in 2016 and won the vote, but work only began in 2019, despite an ongoing dispute with the heirs of the plot owners. Construction took more than a year, during which about 20,000 m2 of asphalt and concrete were removed. The park was opened on 15 August 2020 at a picnic, and the project cost 10.9 million zloty. Images of aeroplanes and buses on the surface of the paths are reminders of the site's former uses.

The 20°E meridian runs through the park, marked by blue rails bearing the words "LINIA POŁUDNIKA 20°E" (20°E meridian line). This 100-metre marker is the largest meridian marker of its kind in the world.
