History
Drwinka River Park covers 37.675 ha in Podgórze Duchackie and is one of Kraków's havens of biodiversity. Two valuable types of riparian forest grow here: ash-alder and elm-ash, and the lie of the land is shaped by the meanders of the river. About 80 species of birds live here. The Drwinka Association has created an educational trail with information boards about amphibians, reptiles, mammals and birds, and wooden posts with QR codes lead to more nature facts. The Drwinka itself is a stream flowing through Kozłówka, Prokocim and the Jerzmanowski Park. In the past it ran beside a well-known route along which cattle were driven, and its water was used in households.
Did you know?
Today the river is called the Drwinka, but until the 20th century it was known as the Czerna.
