Zięba zwyczajna
Kraków Murals
Mural in the Bieżanów-Prokocim district showing a bird species (Polish name: Zięba zwyczajna). It is one of about a dozen bird murals in this area. A mural is a large painting made directly on the wall of a building.
History
The common chaffinch sits on the gable wall of the block of flats at Spółdzielców Street 6 on the Na Kozłówce estate. It was painted in 2019 as one of seven new pictures in the "Birds" series. It was painted by the artist Wojciech Rokosz, who created the whole cycle. The Na Kozłówce Housing Cooperative counts the chaffinch among the better-known birds of the series, alongside the jay on the building at Spółdzielców Street 4. The paintings are made when the gable walls are renovated and show birds that live around the estate.

The same artist also created a mural of a jackdaw drinking coffee and reading a book by Franz Kafka. He used it to decorate the lift by the pavilion at Spółdzielców Street 3, and the sponsors were the cooperative, the Coffeepro coffee roastery and Biblioteka Kraków.
