Zniczek zwyczajny
Kraków Murals
Mural in the Bieżanów-Prokocim district showing a bird species (Polish name: Zniczek zwyczajny). It is one of about a dozen bird murals in this area. A mural is a large painting made directly on the wall of a building.
History
The Common Firecrest is a mural on the renovated gable wall of the block at 4 Seweryna Street on the Na Kozłówce estate. It was painted in 2020, during the pandemic, as another picture in the "Birds" series. The series is the work of the visual artist Wojciech Rokosz. The Na Kozłówce Housing Cooperative wrote that the bird had landed on the wall and everything suggested it had no intention of flying away. The painting was made during the renovation of the wall, and the whole series shows wild birds that live around the estate.
Did you know?
The firecrest hides well behind the trees and is best seen in autumn, when the leaves have fallen. The cooperative saw in its colours a ray of hope for a quick end to the quarantine.
