History

The sculpture-fountain "Trzej Grajkowie" (The Three Musicians) was placed on Wolnica Square in 1970. It is the work of the Kraków artist Bronisław Chromy, who also made the Wawel Dragon sculpture. The fountain shows three small figures with instruments: a flute, a guitar and a violin. The square is part of the original market square of the town of Kazimierz, founded in 1335. Its name comes from the Latin forum liberum, the right to trade meat freely outside the butchers' stalls.
